Footprints in the Sand

So this week on Open Book Blog Hop we’re chatting about our favorite poems.  So confession, I don’t really read poetry.  Not much anyway.  So, I thought about this one and then it came to me.  The poem I’ve always loved, thought of and read over and over when times are hard.  Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson.

I love this poem but I guess, I’d never thought of it as a poem until this week.  Let me know what you think.

Do you have a favorite poem?  Please feel free to share it below, then let’s hop over and see what my fellow authors have to say on this subject.

  1. There’s a lot of writing that can be considered poetry that doesn’t follow traditional forms. This being one of them.

  2. I first saw Footprints the day after my mother’s death in 1979, at that time, in a Dear Abby column that I pasted into my Bible. Since my Dad’s untimely passing 15 months before, this sustained me more than I knew at the time

    • Things like this come to us when we least expect them and yet need them to comfort us. I like thinking that God is sending us little messages when we need them. Thank you for sharing your story.
