Pam Stack dishes on Authors

I’m excited to introduce you to Pam Stack. Pam is the executive producer of Authors on the Air Global Radio Network and she’s interviewed thousands of authors over the years.  She stopped by today to tell you what she’s learned about us authors.  (Hiding under the covers now.)

Thank you to PJ Fiala who invited me to blog in her space about my role as the executive producer of the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network. I’d much rather tell you about the things I’ve learned about writers, if you don’t mind.

As an avid reader of close to 400 books a year (I don’t have a television), speaking to writers from all genres is an honor because these people are my true celebrities.  Having done almost 1,000 LIVE interviews, it has been my pleasure to hear about the author’s point of view, inspiration, perspiration, the challenges and more that go in to writing their books.  Writers are an amazing group. They do not compete with each other; rather they tell me they compete against themselves to make every book better than the one before.  I believe that.  I’ve been to plenty of conferences and watched in awe when writers gather together, laughing and talking and encouraging each other to write better, learn craft and offer blurbs for books, all done with a smile, hug or handshake.  These are people who create their craft in a space very sacred; the concentration necessary to make sure every word is perfect is tremendous.  I suppose this is my homage to all the writers who have brought such pleasure, discovery and magical tales into my life.  I am forever changed by these word-slingers and truly grateful.  Make sure to thank the author for giving you the results of  their sweat and tears for less than the price of a Starbucks coffee and  tell them how much you appreciate their hard work with a lovely little review.    And thank you for listening to me when I chat on Authors on the Air with these creative souls.
