The perfect model or regular folk?
In years gone by, clothing stores, makeup manufacturers and the like have only used models with those perfect bodies and skin to show us their products. How do you feel about this? Would you like to see “real” people in ads?
I’ll admit that I’m not sure how I feel about this topic. On the one hand I’d love to see clothing on people with my body type wearing the clothes I’m interested in to see what the clothing can looking like before purchasing. I detest trying clothes on in stores and even more bring clothing I’ve purchase but don’t care for once I’ve tried it on, back to the store. But, then an ad comes along with a “regular” person, without the spankz or the air brushing or the perfect skin and hair and I’m like “meh”. So it’s people like me that advertisers have been luring to the stores or computers to purchase that perfect sweater or the best pair of slacks a girl can wear to me her look slimmer.
So what’s the answer? I don’t have it. And in this uber charged society where no matter what I say, it will offend someone, I’ll say this. I like seeing the perfect models with their perfect bodies wearing clothes I’d love to be able to wear because it reminds me of:
- I could have their body too if I worked out harder, ate better and applied myself.
- I don’t apply number 1 because I work part time out of the house and come home and work full time at my writing career. I don’t have the energy left to work out like a fiend and/or count every darned calorie, etc.
- I like pretty things. People included. That’s why I put them on my book covers. I’m mesmerized by the perfect skin and hair the gorgeous smiles the bedroom eyes. I LOVE all of that. I can see a regular person – me – every darn day.
What do you think? Do you have an opinion on this topic, I’d love to hear it. I’m off to see what my fellow bloggers have to say about it.
