To Dance One More Day

Rachel Jones is a new to me writer, but I’m so excited I’ve found her.

I’m Rachel Jones and I write contemporary romance. My love for the performing arts has been the backbone for the two novels I’ve published and is present in the third that is nearing completion. I began my professional life as a music teacher. Then twenty-seven years ago, I became a night shift RN in the maternal/child arena. This part of me has found its way into my manuscripts as well.

Today I want to share a few things about the production of my debut novel, To Dance One More Day. The tag line: a broken ballerina repaired by the love of a trauma surgeon.

My daughter studied ballet for eight years, and I fell in love with that dance form. When I became serious about writing a novel, I wanted a ballerina for my heroine. I decided her career should be challenged by a medical diagnosis to provide some of the medical drama I interjected into the storyline. As I outlined the plot, it was a natural progression that my hero would be a physician. Also, a man that had an interest in supporting his community.

to-dance-one-more-dayI enjoyed checking out ballets for my novel. My fieldwork took me as far as the Internet. Though live performances would have pushed my enjoyment up a notch, YouTube was sufficient for my purpose.

While researching, I decided to make a book trailer to place on YouTube. Here is the link for the book trailer we produced. Take a moment to view it and then comment below if you’d like to be in the drawing for a signed copy of To Dance One More Day.

  1. Hi Rachel and PJ! I read To Dance One More Day and absolutely loved it. Such a heartwarming story. Certainly recommend it to others.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. I love anything with dancing.
My mom, my sister and I usually prepare a lot of the stuff the night before. The turkey gets seasoned, the cranberry relish, the sweet potato casserole, the green bean casserole and the Spanish stuffing. That way everything is ready to go in the oven and we just have to do the mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits.
