Pseudonyms – Thoughts?

This week on Open Book Blog Hop we’re talking about pseudonyms and how we feel about them, using them, how we came up with ours if we did, etc.

I use a pseudonym of sorts, my first two initials.  I did that because I liked just using initials.  There isn’t any other reason than that.  I write steamy contemporary romance and I’m not embarrassed by it, nor and I trying to hide my identity.  I don’t see a point in time where I will adopt another pseudonym, I’ll always write under PJ.  The only thing that will change that would be if I’d ever dip my toe into children’s books.  I don’t see that happening, though.

Authors adopt pseudonyms for many reasons, some being they want a bit of privacy for their personal lives.  Since authors have to be all over the internet like never before, it does leave us open for many things.  But, I get exhausted even thinking about having to keep up more than two facebook pages.  I’d tried in the beginning setting up a twitter account for two of my characters and that’s just too much to do.  My own page and character pages.  There simply aren’t enough days in the week to keep up with it all.  Even facebook keeps me hoping, having to post on my personal profile, my author page and my street team.  Then I have many other pages to work in for various reasons, tweeting, pulling together anthologies, setting up sales, networking, marketing, it goes on and on.

I don’t have an opinion on why an author would want more than one, if they can manage it, more power to them. For me, I’ll write as PJ Fiala and let the others juggle all of their pseudonyms and pages.

What are your thoughts on the subject?
