Next month, February 23, 2023 to be exact, Finding Lara releases. It’s a big deal for me, because, this is the first book of a brand new series. And, even better, it’s a legacy series, which means the series is all about the adult children of my popular GHOST series. GHOST stands for Government Hidden Ops Specialty Team.
I fell in love with my GHOST characters when they first came to me. They are larger than life, which means, they are strong, confident and badass men and women. They have not only served in the military, they’ve found they enjoy working in a field where they save women and children.
So, these kids, if we can call them that, have grown up and are following in their parents’ footsteps and doing what GHOST does best – save people.
In Finding Lara, the GHOST team is opening a satellite office in the small town of Glen Hollow Kentucky. Glen Hollow rests in the foothills of Hickory Hills, which is the mountain above it. Things in Glen Hollow are similar in many ways as any other small town, except, there is a faction of people living up in Hickory Hills, who have declared themselves sovereign from the US Government and not beholden to the laws of the US.
That seems all well and good, however, the peace is slowly eroding and war seems about to break out. The people of Hickory Hills feel as though they’ve been taken advantage of, and the things that used to work to keep the peace have been taken away by the newly elected mayor in town.
Lara Bennit is a small town baker and she’s worked hard to grow her bakery business. But, for some reason, she’s become a target of the BRR (Black Road Resistance or the people of Hickory Hills.) Tensions are high, crime is rising and GHOST is called in to keep the peace so the new military base, Fort Abraham, can continue to be built without continuous setbacks caused by the BRR.
As all of this is going on, Tate Vickers, Gaige and Sophie Vickers’ son, (Defending Sophie) is tasked with running the satellite GHOST office, keeping the workers at the base safe, and falling in love with Lara’s cookies. And Lara.

1 thought on “What is it about the kids?”
LOVED FINDING LARA! Interesting and complex community of antigovernment settlers and the next generation GHOST operatives chosen to maintain the peace. Tate is a sweet alpha protector that I enjoyed watching fall for Lara. This read was such a nice combination of sweet/hot romantic suspense! I cannot wait to see what happens with this series and the interesting cast of characters.
