September Giveaway!

It’s that time again, time for the September giveaway.  So, here’s what I have for one lucky winner.

Back in April, I attended the Barbara Vey Reader Appreciation Luncheon as an author.  Part of the cool things we get at the #BVW is this fabulous bag of books and goodies.

I saved mine for a giveaway and that time is now.  This is an amazing bag of books and swag and fun things.  So, enter away, all you have to do is tell me if you like going to book signings and if so, how many have you gone to?

IMAG2050Oh, also, I’ll be back at the #BVW17 and while my luncheon table is full, there are still a couple of spots left at my breakfast table.  So, if you’re interested in joining me for breakfast, meeting some awesome authors ) psst. Kristan Higgins is the keynote speaker this year), and enjoying great food and book buddies to talk books with, this is the place for you.  Simply go to the website and get your ticket right away.

  1. My bucket list includes going to a book signing (right after win the lottery) I would love to go to one, but so far it hasn’t happened. Know any authors that want to go to Atlantic Canada?

  2. I have been to book signings, but can’t say how many. I see Heather Graham in there and I did get to meet her and get my pic taken with her in Vegas. So happy about that. I also see Alex Kava in there. I did meet her here in one of her fave places, Pensacola, Florida and have some signed books by her. Great giveaway!!! Have a super weekend.

  3. I do attend book signings. I have been to more than I can count. I love to hear authors talk about their books. There are several favorite authors whose signings I have attended every time they come to town.

  4. I live in a rural community. There are no book signings close by. I haven’t attended one. Would love to if they were closer.

  5. I haven’t been to a signing yet, but there’s one coming near me in April I plan on going to.

  6. I have attended book signings. I have been to 5. All in Massachusetts
Thank you for this great giveaway

  7. I have been to over 20 book signings. I loved to attend them and meet authors and new friends. I have a FB Group that I share book signings and information for readers. Some that I gave been too have been Barbara Vey Reader Luncheon, RWA, A few in NYC, Boston, NJ.

  8. Like a few others that have commented, I too haven’t been to a book signing. I so would if any of the tons of authors I’m a fan of were to come to where I’m from — the beautiful island of Guam! Maybe one day, if — no, when — I make it out to wherever an author I’m a fan of is having a signing…or is attending any book or writing event that’s open to everyone.

    • To write them well, I wouldn’t say easy. It takes about $1,000 – $1,500 to bring a quality book to market. Covers cost, editing, proof reading, ISBN and that’s before marketing.

  9. I haven’t ever been to a signing but am very interested to go. There is one in Niagara Falls I am considering for next May I believe!

  10. I’ve only been to 2 book signings and enjoyed both. One was James Patterson (my sister won a T-Shirt from him) and we received an autograph and got to have our picture taken with him. The other was David Lister and he is a local author and it was a nice get together in our local library. Pictures, autograph etc.

  11. I have never made it to a book signing, but there have been some close to my home. However, not always convenient times.

  12. I have not attended any book signings, because I take care of my aunt who is disabled. It’s hard to find someone to take over for a day or two. But I am going to try to go to a couple next year, if everything works out. They will have to be close to where I live though. Thanks

  13. I haven’t ever attended a book signing but I would love too. Would love getting to meet the author who writes books that I love bc normally I immerse myself in that world

  14. I attended Authors After Dark 2016. It was my first but hopefully not my last author signing event.

  15. I’ve never been to one and with my anxiety in groups I probably never will, but that’s life.

  16. I have been to one. Houston Authors Bash earlier this year. It was fantabulous! I’m going to PennedCon in St Louis later this month and the one in Lebanon, TN in October. I am sooooooooo excited !

  17. I have never been to a book signing. But I would love to some day. I love having authors sign my books, it makes me feel extra special. Lol.

  18. Love to go to them. I’ve been to dragoncon three times, Lori foster get together 3 times, romantic times book signing once. And numerous author signing

  19. Unfortunately, I have never been to a book signing! I would love to one day. I think I would have a blast!

  20. I love going and meeting the authors if books I love. I have gone to 2 author book signing, George R.R. Martin and Diana Gabaldon. Both I had to drive for a couple hours to get there.

  21. I’ve never been to one but would love to be able to! I’ve never seen anything like that advertised anywhere near where I live!

  22. Wow! What an awesome giveaway from what must have been a wonderful time at the Barbara Vey Reader Appreciation Luncheon.

  23. I have never attended an author signing. Seems I’m always a day late or not in the “know”.

  24. I’ve never had the chance to go to a book signing, but I would love to someday! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  25. I have been lucky to attend 2 book signings..my first one was for an author and it happened to be her first signing..lol then I was able to attend the big one in Madison Wi. with over 40 great authors..best day …since I am disabled with arthritis, I dont have much other things in life so signed books are my treasures..

  26. I have been to 4 book signings, I hope to attend more in the future. Thank you for the giveaway chance!

  27. Yes, I’ve attended many book signings and love ’em! The ones that are at libraries or other smaller venues are better — and I think they don’t overwhelm authors as much — but I’m always thrilled to meet all the authors. I can’t remember all but maybe 15 signings or so?

  28. I have never been to a book signing. It seems that when an author I like is having one it is nowhere near where I live. Maybe one day.

  29. I haven’t had the pleasure of attending a book signing, but would like to if an author I like came to my area.

  30. I have not been able to attend a book signing but would love to if anyone’s in the San Antonio, Texas area!

  31. I went to my first book signing this past April. I live near Seattle where the Emerald City Author Event is held annually. Penny Reid was the main author I wanted to see, but there were many, many more that I enjoyed seeing, as well.

  32. I went to my very first book signing last month. Sydney Author Event, I had so much fun meeting some of my fav authors as well as new to me authors. And chatting with other readers that love the same books I do. I can’t wait for the next book signing in Feb!

    • That’s one of the fun things, you’re there with other people who love books and stories. So much in common and you get great recommendations from other readers too.

  33. I haven’t been to a book signing before but have always wanted to. The closest ones I’ve seen are at least four hours away, and I can’t drive that far.

  34. I have been to a few signings and have one coming up next weekend that I am excited for. Love going and meeting new authors and readers.

  35. I’ve actually never gone to one as we never get authors to come to our town. I’d love to go to them but a trip is never in the budget.

  36. I enjoy author signings but have only been able to go to a few. I went to Kim Harrison’s for the last book in the Hollows series, Ever After and RL Stine’s Red Rain.

  37. No, I’ve never been to a book signing. There have been a few book signings near where I live, but I don’t find out about them in time to be able to go.

  38. I have only been to 1 and it was so much fun! I really hope I can go to another this year but as big as Texas is they don’t really hold many here ?

  39. We wandered into a bookstore that an author was setting up for a book signing that night. We were passing through when moving

  40. I have never been to a book signing. I would love to attend one and meet my favorite authors. Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway.

  41. I have never been to a book signing for a number of reasons. There aren’t any near me, and I’m disabled, so would have a difficult time getting around.

  42. I’ve only been to one but it was a smaller one so I actually got to talk one on one to all of the authors and loved it! I would love to experience one of the bigger ones but then I think I would hate waiting in lines and not getting to chat seriously with the authors lol

  43. I have never been to one but I’m hoping that will change in the immediate future! Thank you for the giveaway!!

  44. I have only been to a couple of book signings. Hopefully will be able to get to more in the future now that my kids are grown, but don’t get too many that are close to home.

  45. I have not gone to a book signing in about 30 years. I would love to go to a book convention though.

  46. I have never been to one. Hopefully that will change one of these days. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome giveaway.

  47. I have gone to too many to count! Anne Rice, Eliz Gilbert, Graham Kerr. The people! Probably 25+ in my lifetime

      • I worked at Oblong Books in Middleton NY. THAT was the only time I was “starstruck”. There I waited on a lot of authors and “stars” like Joel Seigal, Bradley Witford andMichael J Fox who lived just across the state line in CT. I’d learned from meeting Vivica Lindfors and Peter Falk years ago @college that famous people like to be ignored, and they would come back if they were.

However, the day Meryl Streep came in……I’ve never been so starstruck. Her kids were young teenagers and it was a rainy day. I tried to be nonchalant…..but I have a well worn Yale readers’theater tape of her first performance and have just loved her….and told her when I got my voice back.

I learned many years ago, with fan letters to authors and music celebrities, that people are OK if you respectfully approach them. Some have been wonderful(Anne Rice) others..not so much (Graham Kerr was the reason I went to cooking school. What I met was a third generation alcoholic who was very judgemental). Respect them, even if they don’t return it

  48. I have never been. I was planning on going to one in October, but then I was hospitalized and now on oxygen 24/7. I’m still hoping to go to one eventually.

  49. I’ve gone to three book signings so far and loved them all!! My bank account….not so much 🙂

  50. I only went to one and that was when I was in my 20’s, I just don’t find them around here.
    @tisonlyme143

  51. I have been to one that was held here in my home town of Roanoke Va and found its been going on for like 3 yrs. plan to go back next April and wanted to go to Nashville next month but since I e been out of work since June for not being able to talk I don’t think I’m going toget to go.

  52. I went to one by accident! Went to a Barnes and Nobles and there was an author there signing his new book. I bought the book for my husband and had it signed!

  53. I hope to attend a conference sometime. Working fulltime doesn’t make things like this easy. But keep the blog going. Thanks.

  54. I’d like to but with a 5 year old and working nights my time is too limited to travel, so not yet…

  55. I have always wanted too but unfortunately there haven’t been any close enough to where I live that is affordable. I’m hoping some day though, it is actually a dream of mine to meet some of my favorite authors.

  56. Sadly, most of the ones I wanted to go to were always when I worked (at the time I worked evenings and overnights), so the one time I was able to waited for 4 hrs just to have the author leave.

  57. Would love to, but there never close to where I live. Would love to meet some of the Authors I read for years.

  58. I’ve only been to a couple, but they have both been a blast! I love signings and getting to meet authors!

  59. I have not been to any, but I am going to one in Nashville in October and then Birmingham in November.

  60. I have been to a couple of book signings years ago. There aren’t any bookstores around here that have book signings. I would go if they were located in my area.

  61. I don’t. I feel kind of bashful about talking to authors in person, plus there aren’t many of them in my neck of the woods.

  62. I’ve only been to one, in South Dakota. Living in North Dakota, we don’t see too many authors here. 🙁 And unfortunately, I can’t afford to travel to see them. But I tend to be a bit too introverted, and shy, so I don’t really chat with them much even if I were to see them! lol But it’s still fun to get them to sign the books.

  63. I live in a small town in Northern CA and there isn’t much chance of me attending any nearby. I did attend a class once where at the end we got to meet the authors, buy their books and get them signed!!

  64. I live in Louisville, Kentucky and I love going to book signings. I have been to 5 last year and have tickets to go to 4 this year!! I love all these authors and I LOVE my signed books❤️❤️

  65. I live in Massachusetts, I’ve been to 4 book signings, I absolutely love attending them.
All my signed books have a beekcase just for them.
Thank you for this wonderful giveaway

  66. I live about an hour north of New York City and I went to my first signing this past April and I had a blast. Even my hubby enjoyed going because he got to meet BT Urruela. The authors and models were so nice. I am going to another one in a few months and plan on going to more in 2017.

  67. Love them have been to RT once, Lori fosters get together several times, dragoncon a few times and many small ones. At going to coastal magic in February

  68. I do go when I can. However, the last signing I went to was NYComic Con several years ago. Surprisingly, there aren’t a ton of authors that come to where I live now, which is no longer NYC

  69. I have never attended a book signing, but would love too. Never had one in my area that I am aware of.

  70. I have as part of the writers festival that takes place here but otherwise they usually don’t work for my schedule/location – or I only find out really last minute and can’t change plans 🙁

      • seems so weird – the author goes to all the effort (travel too) – the store goes through all the store level promotion setting up tables extra staffing etc but they post about it 24 hours beforehand!

  71. I never hear of any in my area. The closest is in Washington D.C. & not easy for me to get to. I wish a book show would come to Maryland!

  72. I usually don’t know of any near me. However, Toledo is about 2.5 to 3 hours away so I may go to that one next month.

  73. I’m not allowed to travel anymore so I guess I will virtually enjoy the travels of others on the net.

  74. My Bff and i attend about 4 a year. JR Ward is always on the list. We will be going to 2 Indie signings in Oct…Toledo’s Glass City book signing and Columbus’s Arch City book signing.

  75. I attend 1000s of book signings! Not exaggerating at all. I’ve met some really great authors. The only problem is room for all my amazing signed books. Lol. I wouldn’t have it any other way though.

  76. My first book signing was Love N Vegas 2016 & I LOVED it!! So much fun and excitement!! I definitely will be attending more!! ❤️❤️❤️

  77. Would love to attend a signing .I follow a lot of authors but none have been close enough. If the lines were long I couldn’t wait cause in 2010 I had a car accident and. Hurt my back so I can’t stand long

  78. Have not attended any book signings. There is no book store in my town but if there was one in the city closest to me I would attend.

  79. I love signings. I went to five last year and am looking forward to attending one in Ireland next month.

  80. I’ve been to a couple; the smaller events (one or two authors signing at a bookstore) were more comfortable, but the bigger/multi-author events had so much energy! A little claustrophobic at times, and more chaotic, but so much energy!

  81. Unfortunately, I have never been to a book signing. That’s one of the disadvantages of living in a rural area.

  82. I have occasionally attended book signings. I remember back in the early 70’s I went to a Bob Hope book signing where I stood in line for hours. Most recently I went to a Louise Penny signing. It’s nice to share a few words with a favorite author, as authors provide me with hours and of pleasure.

  83. I have never been to one. They usually don’t take place in my area and I can’t get away to make the drive if its a couple of hours away.

  84. I have not been to any and hope someday that they have some near my home town . Sounds exciting ! But due to a severe illness am home bound . But I do love hearing all the exciting stories from the book signings!

  85. I have only been to 1 signing and the was Scripted Social Event in Des Moines, IA. I do have tickets to go to Kinky in KC on March 4, 2017, which I am sooooo excited for!!!

  86. I tried to go to a Nora Roberts one but I really couldn’t find a parking spot. Considering it was in Arkansas, no wonder so many people showed up.

  87. I’ve only been to a couple book signings, I have an anxiety disorder and the combination of cramped space and lots of strangers is not good.

  88. I do, but I rarely get a chance to go to any. I do love the chances I get to meet authors at Cons though (such as FetFlea and Arisia).

      • Arisia is a fantasy/sci-fi/anime/etc con here in Boston in January(ish). They have author discussions, round tables, etc and are in the vending rooms. NautiCon is a 21+ version of Arisia in New Hampshire. FetFlea is short for the Fetish Fair Flea Market, where I’ve also met some awesome authors as Cecelia Tan (Circle Press) is one of the people running it! *smiles*

  89. When I worked in a bookstore, I got to do the setup for signings, and I got a LOT of books signed – and a lot of swag. That’s been 20 years or so ago, and in that time I’ve had quite a few books signed, and MANY comics signed. Because NERD. Authors are awesome. 🙂

  90. I’ve never had the chance to go to one. I’m hoping someday I will be able to. I heard people have an amazing time.

  91. I haven’t been able to attend a book signing yet, but one is coming soon as few hours away I hope to attend.

  92. I do like going to book signings, especially when the author gives a talk as well as signing books. I’ve probably been to a dozen signings. I would do more if I was more financially stable. Living on a fixed income doesn’t allow for too many extras.
    Pat

  93. I haven’t been to a book signing yet, but there’s one coming near me in April…I’m very excited!

  94. I don’t have many opportunities for book signings in my area so I don’t attend many. I have considered traveling, a day trip, in the past but I haven’t been able to make schedules work yet.

  95. I never been to a book signing. If one comes down to south Louisiana I will definitely attend.

  96. I’ve never been to a book signing, mostly because I’m in New Zealand and have never seen any advertised near us. Have had a rugby jersey signed by a star player though and have won signed books

  97. I love going to book signings. I love all types of books, so when the independent book store in Orange has a mystery writer I like I am there. I really can’t tell you how many I have gone to. Some day I want to go to a conference, so I can see a lot of my favorites at one time and get more signed books.

  98. Hi, PJ! I love book signings. I worked at a bookstore for many years and even introduced the authors sometimes when we hosted them. The one I liked the best was Gloria Steinem–though that one was so crowded we had it outside.
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

      • Well, I have always been inspired by her writing and her work. She was promoting Revolution from Within, her book on self-esteem which is something I always struggle with, and she was so great with everyone’s questions and I left all charged up and ready to change the world!

        • Awesome. I just love that feeling of leaving a talk or session from an inspirational speaker of being able to walk on water and take on the world.
