Why Diego needed Shelby

Diego Josephs is a complicated man. He’s smart, driven, experienced in all things as a special operative and he’s handsome. But, after his experience in the military, PTSD entered his life. He went from confident to living in fear of his next panic attack.

When he got Ted, his comfort/support dog, Diego’s treatment increased and he once again felt more confident. As he retrained as a special operative, he finally felt healed.

Then, he met Shelby and the kids, Anders and Callie. To open up to people you don’t know can be scary, you don’t have the protection of love and support. But, then when you’re attracted to someone on top of it, it can be terrifying.

But, he did it. Diego fessed up about his PTSD and explained how Ted helps him. The first time Shelby saw Ted in action, she was mesmerized at how it worked. What Ted’s job was and the bond between them. But, an attack happened once when Ted wasn’t around and Shelby stepped in. She sat on Diego’s lap and held him. It was beautiful and sweet. And, Diego knew that he wasn’t alone and Shelby was there for him.

I loved writing Diego and Shelby’s love story. These two are perfect for each other and there’s always satisfaction in that.
