Have you had Blackberry Fizz? I hadn’t heard of it until recently when my daughter-in-law made it. Now, of course, I’m hooked. Give this one a try.
Spiked Blackberry Fizz
Ingredients:
-3 quarts blackberries
-4 cups water
-3 cups white sugar
-1 TBSP whole cloves
-1 TBSP whole allspice
-4 cinnamon sticks (broken)
-Lemon lime Soda (50/50 is the best!)
-Your choice of Vodka or Rum
- Crush blackberries in a large kettle. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- Strain through a jelly bag, reserving juice and discarding pulp. Add water to juice if necessary to equal 2 quarts; pour into a large kettle.
- Slowly stir in sugar until dissolved. Place the spices in a cheesecloth bag and add to juice. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes to 1 hour, then bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat, discard spice bag.
Special notes:
-This recipe can be jarred hot or placed in a pitcher to cool if it will be served the same day (it will keep in the refrigerator for about 5 days).
-Mix about 1/3 concentrate to 2/3 soda and add a shot or two of vodka if desired. Enjoy!
